You'll be monitored for about half an hour before someone can drive you home. Follow any activity restrictions provided by your doctor, and inquire about using heat or ice in the injection area. You may experience soreness or slight weakness in your leg for a few hours. Pain relief from the numbing medicine may occur initially, followed by increased pain as it wears off. The steroid's effects may take up to 7 days to be noticeable, initially causing pain relief before potentially increasing pain for a few days.
Keep track of your pain in a diary as directed by your doctor, and contact them if you experience severe pain, prolonged leg weakness, fever, signs of infection, or other concerning symptoms.
